1X25 Red and Green Dot Reflex Sight / Weaver and 3/8" Dovetail Base/Black

I recently purchased a Tippmann 98 Custom Platinum Series paintball marker. The actual marker was great, though I wanted to add some "tactical flare" to it. I looked around for a while, and found this red dot sight by NcStar. At only $20, I decided to purchase it. When it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised at the build quality. It is all metal, and the dial in which you select the color/intensity of the dot was solid and smooth. The sight easily fit on top of my 98 custom, and looks like its an actual part of the marker. The two look great together. All in all, I am extremely satisfied with this purchase.

I purchased two of these NC-Star Silver Red/Green Dot Sights for airsoft purposes. I recommend them for airsoft, but would not recommend them for firearms.


Cons:
This is a lower quality sight, but you knew that already by looking at the price. It has surprisingly little parallax prevention... so much so that NC-Star has included an iron sight of sorts to make sure you are sighting accurately (isn't that what the dot sight is supposed to do by itself?). Secondly the machine work* is a little shoddy and this (on one of the models I ordered) affects the ability of a) attaching the mount to the gun and b) attaching the sight to the mount. (Note: mounts are removable and reversible for easy swapping of picatinny and weaver rails.) Brightness settings are too arbitrary to make any difference in dynamic conditions, although I suppose one can work around this with the switch from red to green. As you would expect from the price, this is more for fun then serious competition, but if you're just plinking around it may get you by for a while.
This sight would be OK for quick draw or plate/ pin shooting, where a large dot will be easy to acquire quickly, though a larger reticle would be better (this one is only 25mm). I shoot slow fire pistol, so this thing is useless to me because at 50 feet the dot covers the whole black area (the 7, 8, 9 and 10 rings) of the target. Bottom line, if you want a cheap red/green dot to start with for plate shooting, this will get you started, but it's not the choice for high accuracy stuff.
