The Blackhawk 60mm spotting scope uses a multi-coated objective lens and rugged porro-prism design for bright, clear images. At 100 yards, I can clearly focus in on a target, even when I crank the magnification up to the maximum 60X. When I use the scope for wildlife spotting, the sweet spot seems to be about 30X magnification; 30X gives me an ideal combination of sharp images and a wide field of view, perfect for identifying Puffins and Pelicans along the coast.
I also like the compact size and light weight of the Blackhawk 60. At only 14 inches long and weighing less than two pounds, the Blackhawk 60 is light enough to use a photo tripod such as the SLIK U-9000 in the field. Like other entry level spotting scopes, the Barska Blackhawk 60 uses an Achromatic objective lens, which means that some false color or blue fringing is noticeable at high power.
I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the quality and value of the binoculars and spotting scopes imported by Barska the last few years. The Barska Blackhawk 60mm spotting scope simply offers very good optical performance for a very reasonable price. --Jeff Phillips

It's very easy to see the .30 cal holes at 200 yards and light transmission and clarity are very adequate. This scope also comes with 2 carrying cases, a nice added bonus. When comparing this scope to my friends bushnell of the same power this one wins hands down, a definate purchase for someone on a budget and looking to get good quality for limited funds. 33 of 33 people found the following review helpful: By ewias (Denver, CO) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Barska BlackBlackhawk 20-60x60 Waterproof Straight Spotting Scope w/Tripod, Soft Carry Case & Premium Hard Case (Sports) For the price, this scope does the job and easily in the top tier within its class/costs. It is easy to handle and really light which makes it easy to hike with. To be honest, this scope is more capable than any scope we used in the USMC scout/sniper platoon I served in back in the early 90s. The cases are excellent. I would recommend a heavier tripod for added stability. 30 of 30 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Barska BlackBlackhawk 20-60x60 Waterproof Straight Spotting Scope w/Tripod, Soft Carry Case & Premium Hard Case (Sports) I bought this scope to zero in my AR-15 at about 100-yards. It worked well, and I can see my bullet holes up to about 150-yards. Beyond that, I can focus on my target, but struggled to count the number of bullet holes. This scope is great for the $109 price, especially with the extras you don't get with the more expensive brands. And it held up well against my friend's expensive $450 Leupold (that he got without a tripod or hard case). Unfortunately I needed something strong (good up to 300-yards), and returned this scope for the Barska Benchmark 25-125X88 for $15 more.
My advice, pick the magnification power that fits your needs and expectations. Then compare prices before comparing brands. |
