It has 11 levels of brightness but even at the highest setting there is no red visible in the center dot either outdoors or in a well-lit indoor range. I compare that to my Ultradot scope that is easy to see with the setting at 1 or 2 out of 10. Unless you're literally shooting in the dark, all you'll see with this BSA is a small black dot in the center of the field. Against a black target the aiming dot disappears since there is no "red" in it. Using a fresh battery didn't help, it's just a low-output diode. The scope is also nearly 11 inches long. The Weaver base is 4 inches long and integral to the scope so you can't adjust it's position there. The objective lens is 2 inches forward of the end of the base, the ocular lens (the one near your eye) is 4.75 inches back from the end of the base. I must say that mine is the exact opposite. This person must have recieved a defective unit. Mine is crisp, very bright red dot, great parralex, always on sight no matter where your eye position is everytime! Overall this scope for the price can be beat! |
