This review is from: BSA 6-24X40 Contender Series Rifle Scope with Side Parallax Adjustment and Mil-Dot Reticle (Sports)
I bought this scope for a custom modified stevens .223 for engaging varmints at ranges from 100 to 400 yards. The scope has good optics and good lens coatings as well as good eye relief and zeroing knobs. I have only one problem with the scope; this is the parallax adjustment. The parallax does not focus to far distances while at high magnification. When on 20x the parallax is only clear from about 3 yards to 75 or 100 yards. In order to clear up the picture at farther distances; I must back off the magnification. For instance, if I want a clear picture at 400 yards I have to back off to about 10x because the parallax is already at max adjustment. Other than that one problem (which is very frustrating at times) I am overall impressed with the brightness and clarity of the glass at anything within 100 yards.

RECOMMENDATION: Buy it.
THE GOOD: True Mil-Dot reticle at the 12x setting. It has a Second Focal Plane reticle, so that means when you zoom up to 24x, the dots are ½-mil apart, and at 6x they are 2-mils apart.
Good glass. Very clear for target use. On my scope, the parallax adjustment worked at all power settings. I could focus on close and far targets at all power settings.
THE BAD: The documentation is poor.
The Owner's Pamphlet does not provide you with the correct subtensions for the scope. They are as follows:
Given the Scope is set at 12X:
From Crosshairs to middle of first mil dot = 1.0-mil.
Each Mil-Dot is 0.20-mil in diameter.
From Crosshairs to top of first mil dot = 0.90-mil.
Triangle--Vertical height = 1.0-mil.
Triangle--Horizontal width = 1.0-mil.
Triangle--Length of each side = 1.22-mil.
THE COOL: The reticle switched from Mil-Dots to Mil-Triangles at the 4-Mil mark. Conveniently,...Read more

Unfortunately, the product was damaged upon its arrival, but it was not damaged by packaging or any other means. It was a defect in the machining portion at the factory when they placed the ball and spring under the recticle side of the scope. I called BSA and they said I could send it back to them but it would be like 4 months because they are backed up, I said I just bought it and he said it would still take that long. So I returned it to Amazon and they refunded my money without problems. Thank You Amazon, at least you stand by the products you sell. (Better than the company that makes the product anyway)
