I just got this as a Christmas present and WOW!! is what I can say. I was really surprised at how well they work. Our neighborhood is very dark and our yard is about 2 acres. Our Christmas guests were all enjoying watching the dogs and the kids in the pitch darkness. I just keep going outside to see what other creatures are lurking. They are very easy to use and you really can see in the dark. There is not much magnification and there tends to be some fuzziness around the edge but I am sure I will get lots of use out of this present. They will also be of use in bad weather because they are waterproof!

First, I admit to absolutely zero experience with night vision. All I've seen of it is pictures on television and photos in advertizing. With that disclaimer...

As experiences go, it's rather 'eh.' I expected clear vision. It's rather milky and you can see only a small area through the lens. The milkiness does not appear to be anything on the lens (I've worked as a professional photographer and would find it) but rather an artifact of the imaging process itself.

That's the reality check. Don't expect a broad range of vision or a clear-as-a-bell view.

On the positive side, you can see things in the dark. I have a hollow out back, and the dog likes to run down there at night and sniff out critters. I found I could follow her easily as she roamed over the full acre. With the use of the IR light, you can thrown a good beam on things for maybe 30-50 feet.

A bit of a letdown, but overall, it does what they say.
