I was given this scope as a gift in 2009. I mounted it on a .243 bolt action rifle and have been pleased with both the clarity of view and light transmission in low light situations.

bought one of these for my .270, and i have to say, it's a great pairing. at 5x it's perfect for hunting. good field of view yet enough zoom to be useful for long shots.

the clarity is pretty good for a mid-range scope, certainly better than a lot of others under $200. there is a little bit of fuzz at the edges, but it's to be expected for the price range.

the crosshairs are pretty good. a little thick for high-precision shooting, especially at lower than 9x magnification, but that's not what this scope is for. the adjustment is really positive, and while they're not finger-adjustable, the turrets are easy to get to and move.

the exit pupil is huge. it's actually big enough that i now have to get the bolt handle on my rifle shaved down a bit to clear the scope with the rear cap from butler creek. keep that in mind.
