I looked and looked before buying this EO Tech. I went back and forth on EoTech's, Aimpoint's, and Trijicon's (as well as Vortex red dot, and the Tactical Prismatic by Leupold). I did tons of research.

Aimpoint is also awesome, but tends to be more $ and I couldn't find one that supported rechargeable batteries. It's true that Aimpoints proprietary wiring means you get hours and hours of battery life more than the EoTech, but for me, relying on being able to recharge batteries even out in the field via solar powered rechargers, was more important than a long lasting battery life that may die at some point in the field.

Trijicon doesn't need batteries, but I read that the illumination material is warrantied for 10 years, and given that it's more expensive by quite a bit, and considering the possibility of the illumination wearing out ... between those things, I passed.

Leupolds Prismatic is interesting because it doesn't require batteries either, but...Read more

Make sure you realize this model is slightly raised for a lower 1/3 co-witness with your backup sights. This works really well with a fixed front and rear backup sight without needing folding sights. Even with a fixed rear or a flipped up folding rear sight, they will blend in with the background and you won't notice them during actual shooting. For this reason I recommend sticking with fixed front and rear sights so there's less parts to break and less to fiddle with if your optic stops working during a dynamic situation.

This product comes nicely packaged in a foam lined plastic case that would put most pistol cases to shame. A little unnecessary really considering most people will put it on the rifle and leave it there pretty much forever.

It can mount directly to the rail without having to slide it from one end or the other. Useful if you already have other things mounted on the ends of your rail.

If you haven't seen one of these in person...Read more

Have mounted this sight on a couple of different ARs. has held up very well, and seen thousands of rounds fired through the rifles. Holds Zero, clear reticle. Well made. I love it!
