Great Scope. Very clear glass and illuminated reticle goes from a very low setting (good for lowlight + indoors) to a very bright setting (good for outdoor use in direct sunlight). Scope is relatively short with a decent amount of eye relief so an extended mount isn't needed on my AR15.
1x past ~15 yards looks to be very close to 1x. Reticle does not increase in size as you change magnification. I can easily use this scope with BAC sighting (both eyes open) even at 4x. Similar to the way an ACOG works, but obviouly at 1/6 the price not quite the same.
Not quite as fast to aquire targets within 25 yards (@ 1x) as a red dot but with practive probably could be. I recommend getting a cattail so you can easily switch between 1x and 4x (I personally don't use anything in between).
The illumination switch can be a pain to change settings, so I set it to what I want and leave it set that way only turning it on and off. I only change it unless I really have to...Read more

I purchased a 6.8spc upper to put on my .223 lower. I have a vortex strikefire on the .223 and was looking for something that would give me a 1x red dot look for close distances while at the same time have some magnification for 100-200 yard ranges. The burris fit the bill nicely and was hundreds less then the other options I looked at.
Build quailty seems very good. The scope has some heft to it and everything fits together tightly. I have it mounted using the burris PEPR mount.
The red dot works well by depressing the small brown button on the side. Adjusts are easily made and I had mine on target with-in 10 shots with no prior bore sighting. In bright sunlight the red dot itself isn't really that visible as it overlays a permanent black etched pattern. Indoors it works great though. The black pattern looks like traditional scope etching, although it is not a cross hair pattern.
The glass is extremely clear and a co-worker who was using the range next...Read more
