This works on an SKS, it has the proper eye relief, for confortable shooting and target aquisition.
This scope is small enough that it can sit back, whereby shell casings will not hit the scope upon ejection. I can also load the stripper clips, give the scope about a 1/16 to 1/8 " clearance behind the stripper clip slot when the bolt is back. It seems to hold up to the recoil, it was dead center at 50 yards, lost some grouping at 100 yards, with about 100 rounds through it. I utilied a UTG dust cover mount, which tapped strait onto a Yugo SKS. The pin hole lined up and it felt solid. Using the side lateral stabilizing screws makes it harder to break down for cleaning. But this scope was the right size, and I used low 1" scope mounts.

Works on sks dust cover mounts without interfering with clips or case ejection. No flaws discovered with product. Odd that reticle marks are in MOA and not mils.

I've been looking for a scope to mount on my GSG-5 that fit these requirements: had to be compact, had variable magnification, very close eye relief (under 3in.), and cheap.

This Nc-Star compact scope is good because it's compact, goes down to 2x, and is cheap.

Had my eye on this: Leapers 5th Gen 3-9x32AO Bug Buster Compact Rifle Scope, Illuminated Mil-Dot Reticle, 1/4 MOA, 1 Tube But was unable to find one in stock and slightly more than I was looking to spend.

But because it's cheap, the clarity when using it at 5x and 6x gets bad. And while it does magnify, it makes the small numbers on the targets fuzzy and you can't see fine details.

It does go down to 2x which is great for close range and since this is on a strictly-for-fun plinker of a .22lr I see 2-4x as plenty of power...Read more
