Product Description
Nikon pulls out all the stops with the monarch riflescope line. With 90 years of sport optics experience in its pocket, Nikon has engineered its Monarch flagship riflescope line to overcome many of the limiting factors common to many of today’s riflescopes—and to challenge the limits of optical science, as well. Nikon designed the Monarch around a new optical system created to give shooters increased versatility and superlative performance with virtually any type of rifle, in any caliber and in any imaginable hunting situation. While still maintaining the American-preferred one-inch diameter main body tube, Nikon engineers developed the new Monarch series to not only provide the shooter with a big, bright, sharp sight picture, but at the same time minimize the overall length of the riflescope—and maximize the mount ring spacing capability. The resulting line of riflescopes pushes the envelope of optical performance with Nikon’s lead-and-arsenic-free Eco Glass lenses and trademark Ultra ClearCoat anti-reflective multicoatings, is fast-handling, pleasing to the eye and very importantly, allows for mounting on virtually any rifle—even magnum-length actions. In addition to the enhanced ring spacing, the new riflescope design includes the new Monarch Eye Box design with its impressive 4-time zoom range and a very comfortable 4 inches of eye relief that remains constant throughout the power range without sacrificing field of view. In contrast, most competitive riflescopes supply less than 3-times magnification zoom capability and eye relief that varies by as much as a full inch between high and low powers. The Monarch’s massive ocular lens also delivers both a large high-resolution sight picture and the maximum field of view corresponding to each power setting. As an additional convenience feature, Nikon has placed rear-facing magnification indicators on the zoom control and included a quick-focus eyepiece on the new Monarch Eye Box

The 8-32x50ED SF Monarch Riflescope includes Nikon's clarity-enhancing Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass.
Whether shooting small game, hunting in low-light conditions, or looking for powerful optics, the versatile Monarch 8-32x50SF riflescope has you covered. The scope features a rugged one-piece, one-inch main body tube, creative Eyebox design with oversized ocular that provides 4X magnification and four inches of constant eye relief without sacrificing field of view; an ultra ClearCoat system for 95% light transmission; and fully multi-coated, high-performance lenses.
After the lenses are cut and polished, Nikon coats them with multiple layers of anti-reflective compounds. The compounds serve to boost light transmission, improve contrast to pull game out of its surroundings, deliver true color rendition and flare-free viewing, and enhance the overall image quality. The patented BDC reticle, meanwhile, is a trajectory-compensating system designed and calibrated to provide fast, simple aiming points for various shot distances. The unique system integrates a series of small "ballistic circles" to produce an unobstructed view of the target.
Nikon's Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass helps correct chromatic aberrations, or optical color defects, caused when different light wavelengths do not converge at the same point after passing through optical glass. The result is a sharper image with truer color representation.
The riflescope is prepared for years of reliable service thanks to its 100% water-, fog-, and shock-proof housing. The scope is O-ring-sealed, oxygen-purged, and nitrogen-filled to prevent fogging, while waterproof performance is guaranteed, even with the windage and elevation caps removed. Other details include a quick focus eyepiece, enhanced ring spacing that allows you to mount the scope on virtually any rifle, a unique zoom control with rearward facing numbers, hand reticle adjustments with Nikon's interchangeable turret technology, and sunshade adaptability.
Nikon's ED glass focuses light wavelengths at the same point, minimizing optical color defects.

You definitely get your money's worth with this scope. I dropped my gun a few times after I had the scope sighted in, shot it, and didn't have a single problem hitting my targets where it was originally sighted at. Parallax settings and BDC reticle are nice, but definitely learn how your gun shoots and how much your bullet drops are at varying distances. User manual said that if you sight your rifle in at 100 yards, the first dot below the crosshair should be where your bullet will hit at 200 yards. I was using factory Remington bullets and at 200yards, my bullet was almost landing at the second dot below the crosshairs. The only knock I have is that 14x magnification seems to be the max workable zoom. Above this magnification, the image is pretty blurry no matter how much you adjust it.
But overall, great scope.

Excellent scope for the money. Took it on its first hunt and exposed to many different weather conditions and the scope didn't have any problems foging or with moisture. Not sure if I like the BDC or not yet it may take some time getting used to. Seems durable and well built but haven't bumped hard yet. Built like many other scopes in this price range.
