Product Description
The new Monarch Riflescope Series features Monarch Eye Box Technology, a huge ocular with a generous field of view that provides 4-times magnification zoom range and four inches of constant eye relief. Quick-focus eyepiece allows for a crisp, detailed sight picture. Magnification reference numbers are viewable from the shooter's position thanks to Smooth Zoom Control. Standard on all Long Range Monarch riflescopes, Nikon's easy-to reach dial allows you to quickly focus from a shooting position. Enhanced Mount Ring Spacing provides mounting to virtually any rifle action regardless of caliber, even magnum length actions. (2.5-10x50 may require extension rings in some cases). Ultra ClearCoat Optical System is the basis of the new Monarch scope. It consists of superfine Eco-Glass lens glass and Nikon's proprietary anti-reflection multi-coating technology that boost light transmission up to its theoretical maximum - 95% One-Piece Main Body Tubes. The scope is milled from aircraft-grade aluminum for minimum weight and maximum strength and durability, and is sunshade adaptable. Monarch Riflescopes are waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof .
Amazon.com Product Description
Equipped with a precision Nikoplex reticle and a smooth zoom control, the Monarch 2.5-10x42 riflescope sets the standard for mid-sized scope performance. The scope offers such features as a rugged one-piece, 1-inch main body tube; a creative Eyebox design with a huge ocular that provides a 4x magnification range and 4 inches of constant eye relief without sacrificing the field of view; an ultra ClearCoat system for 95 percent light transmission; and fully multicoated, super-high-performance lenses. After the lenses are cut and polished, Nikon coats them with multiple layers of anti-reflective compounds. The compounds serve to boost light transmission, improve contrast (to pull game out of its surroundings), deliver true color rendition and flare-free viewing, and enhance the overall image quality. The Nikoplex reticle, meanwhile, is a favorite of American sportsmen, with thicker posts on the top, bottom, and sides and thinner center crosshairs for precision aiming under all light conditions.
In addition, the riflescope is prepared for years of reliable service thanks to its 100-percent waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof housing. The scope is O-ring sealed, oxygen purged, and nitrogen filled to prevent fogging, while the waterproof performance is guaranteed, even with the windage and elevation caps off. Other details include a quick focus eyepiece; enhanced ring spacing that allows you to mount the scope on virtually any rifle; a unique zoom control with rearward facing numbers; hand reticle adjustments with Nikon's interchangeable turret technology; and sunshade adaptability.

I mounted this scope on a sporterized M1917 (a.k.a. Enfield) .30-06. At sight-in (and first time ever handling this rifle) I was same-hole at 50 yards immediately, and had nice groups at 100 in no time. The view through the scope was clear and bright, with sharp reticle. Eye relief is very nice. I have no doubt that with a little more trigger time I'll have tight groups at 200 yards as well, and feel confident taking this rifle and scope on my hunt this fall.

2010 April(ish) - This was the second product purchased as "new" inside a month which was obviously handled although do not think it was mounted. It had surface dust on the scope and the box was worn as if it was a demo. But all that was not the primary issue ... the eye lens had a 1-2mm diameter piece of coating missing near at the center of the eye optic and there was dust inside the scope seen through the eye ocular. Although the scope was very disappointing (returned) I found Amazon to be awesome by paying for return shipping with a fast refund. So I do not hold Amazon accountable for this ... I do hold the company that supplied Amazon with this products unacceptable condition.
2010 October 27 - Update. So I waited several months and concluded that the best price is still from Amazon. In spite of my previous experience I decided to give it a third try and ordered this scope again. It would seem three times a charm ... the scope was new and immaculate. I have mounted it, bore...Read more
