All I needed was a solid pair of binoculars for studying landscapes and getting a closer look at wildlife, and that's exactly what this is. The full size ones are great on day hikes when you're not as concerned with weight or space in a backpack, and the compact pair is great to stash in the glove box or take backpacking. Both have worked well for me when it comes to watching animals or identifying landmarks.
