I'm not sure what the guy who gave it 2 stars was thinking but its very simple to operate. Just twist the mount to one side and it rotates over and down slightly so its out of the way. You can mount this to rotate either left or right for those who are worried it will get hit by spent brass. It securely locks in place with no wiggle or noticeable movement when firing. I also have the VMX3 and compared to the much higher priced magnifiers I didn't see enough difference to justify more than double and in some cases triple the price when comparing the VMX3 to other brands. I plan to buy another swing mount/VMX3 combo from Vortex.

I can only assume that they are using a definition of the term "swing mount" that I am unfamiliar with. The only way to "swing" this mount is to physically remove the entire mount and sight/magnifier from your rifle. This is a quick detach mount, not a swing mount. Otherwise, the mount is good quality and appears to be well made.
